Our

Work

The work we are engaged in today will build a better Indiana for all of us to call home tomorrow. There are so many ways to take action, so let's do something that matters together. Each local runs their own campaigns and events, but here is a taste of what we are up to statewide!

What We're Up To

Whether lobbying legislators, learning from our neighbors during a canvassing campaign, or organizing action around issues that affect all of us, there's a way for you to be a part of creating the future we all deserve. Anyone can take action with us regardless of membership status.

Create the State You're Proud to Call Home

Legislative Session

Legislative Session

Our members (and friends) read every bill each legislative session to determine our legislative agenda. We connect with one another weekly for a virtual Action Hour. Join us for a tight 60 minutes to learn how things are moving through the legislative process, take action with full support including scripts, and celebrate the community we are creating by dancing on and off the call.

Our members also travel to the statehouse to testify in hearings and lobby our legislators face to face, including (but not limited to) our annual Lobbying is for Lovers event each February.

Solidarity Book Club

Solidarity Book Club

Reading and reflecting together helps us strengthen our politics and our actions.  Each May Day we launch our annual Solidarity Book Club where we read a book focused on the labor movement to better understand the struggle and strengths of working folks. Book club is members only, so make sure your dues are up to date, so you don’t miss the invitation! Can't wait to get started? Check out our Resource Library

Reproductive Freedom Initiatives

Reproductive Freedom Initiatives

Each of us has the right to make our own decisions about whether and when to become a parent. Period. That includes access to prenatal services, safe childbirth, access to contraception, and access to legal and safe abortion. Though access to abortion is severely restricted in Indiana, the Hoosier Abortion Fund is still supporting people in Indiana who need access to critical healthcare. Which is why we have raised more money than any organization or individual for the Hoosier Abortion Fund. In 2023 we launched our Vending Machine Project, where we set out to get free emergency contraception (and other harm reduction materials) into vending machines in each region of the state.

By going all in and telling our stories, raising the funds, and fighting to get resources to the people who need it most, we make the future, and we can ensure that any of us can get the care that we need no matter how much money we have or which state we call home

Voter Engagement

Voter Engagement

We run multiple campaigns each year to deepen our relationship with our neighbors, activate our members to be a part of the political process and to encourage voter participation.  We canvass our neighborhoods, host power building events, and spend a lot of time on the phone listening to stories from our communities and helping folks make a plan to vote.

In order to re-imagine civic engagement, we are working together to turn strangers into neighbors and neighbors into friends.  Then we organize our friends to Vote Together.
